GRADUATE PROGRAM

Program Objectives

Graduates of the MAgS Program will be expected to contribute immediate and significant value as leaders in their organizations. Over time, they will be expected to assume increasingly important leadership roles in the aging arena. Specifically, graduates leaving the program will be able to:

 

  • Exercise a holistic set of skills and knowledge that integrates aging, management, and policy
  • More effectively provide leadership to their organizations and manage other individuals
  • Apply core management fundamentals of strategy, marketing, operations, finance, and accounting to organizations related to aging across the private, public, and non-profit sectors
  • Demonstrate knowledge of normal human aging on the individual level, including social, psychological, and physical aspects
  • Understand the societal implications of an aging population for public policy, the economy, and major social institutions
  • Successfully apply critical thinking, effective communication, and creative problem solving in their organizations
  • Evaluate a broad range of organizational outcomes utilizing research, policy, and business criteria for performance
  • Describe in detail the existing array of public sector aging-related agencies/ programs, the role of policy in framing their actions and funding, and the emergent private sector organizations responding to the needs of this population
